6 women and 6 men together can complete a piece of work in 6 days. In how many days can 15 men alone complete the piece of work if 9 women alone can complete the work in 10 days?

(1) 6 days

(2) 5 days

Solution: (5)

$\frac{M_{1} D_{1}}{W_{1}}=\frac{M_{2} D_{2}}{W_{2}}$

$ \frac{6 \times 6}{W_{1}}=\frac{9 \times 10}{1} $

$\Rightarrow W_{1}=\frac{6 \times 6}{9 \times 10}=\frac{2}{5}$

$\therefore$ Part of work done by 6 women in 6 days $=\frac{1}{5}$

$\therefore$ Part of work done by 6 men in 6 days $=1-\frac{3}{5}=\frac{2}{5}$

$\frac{M_{1} D_{1}}{W_{1}}=\frac{M_{2} D_{2}}{W_{2}}$

$\Rightarrow \frac{6 \times 6}{\frac{3}{5}}=\frac{15 \times D_{2}}{1}$

$\Rightarrow 15 \times D_{2}=\frac{6 \times 6 \times 5}{3}=60$

$\Rightarrow D_{2}=\frac{60}{15}=4$ days
