Working together, A and B can complete a task in 8 days. $C$ alone can complete the task in 15 days. $A$ is $50 \%$ more efficient than $C$. In how many days can B (working alone) complete the task?

Solution: (3)
A is $50 \%$ more efficient than C.
$\therefore$ Time taken by $A=\frac{15 \times 100}{150}$ $=10$ days
$\therefore(A+B)$ ’s 1 day’s work $=\frac{1}{8}$
$\therefore$ B’s 1 day’ work $=\frac{1}{8}-\frac{1}{10}$ $=\frac{5-4}{40}=\frac{1}{40}$
$\therefore$ Required time $=40$ days
