Question-
24 girls work for 3 days on a project and complete one-fifth of it. 20 boys work for the next 10 days and complete two-fifth of it. If after 13 days from start of the work, 24 girls and 20 boys work together, how many days will they take to complete the remaining work?
(1) $5 \frac{1}{4}$
(2) $3 \frac{1}{4}$
(3) $2 \frac{1}{2}$

Time taken by 24 girls in doing one-fifth work $=3$ days
$\therefore$ Time taken by 24 girls in doing 1 work $=15$ days
Similarly,
Time taken by 20 boys in doing $=\frac{10 \times 5}{2}=25$ days
$\therefore$ Remaining work $=1-\frac{1}{5}-\frac{2}{5}=1-\frac{3}{5}=\frac{2}{5}$
(24 girls +20 boys)’s 1 day’s work $=\frac{1}{15}+\frac{1}{25}$ $=\frac{5+3}{75}=\frac{8}{75}$
$\therefore$ Required time $=\frac{75}{8} \times \frac{2}{5}$ $=\frac{15}{4}=3 \frac{3}{4}$
