$B$ is 1.5 times as efficient as $A$. If A can complete $\frac{6}{7}$ th of a given task in 12 days, what fraction of the same task would remain incomplete if $B$ works on it independently for 6 days only?

Solution: (4)
$\therefore$ A completes $\frac{6}{7}$ work in 12 days.
$\therefore$ Time taken by $A$ in doing whole work $=\frac{12 \times 7}{6}=14$ days
$\therefore$ Time taken by $B=\frac{14}{1.5}$ days
$\therefore \quad$ B’s 1 day’s work $=\frac{1.5}{14}$
$\therefore$ B’s 6 day’s work $=\frac{6 \times 1.5}{14}=\frac{9}{14}$
$\therefore$ Remaining work $=1-\frac{9}{14}=\frac{5}{14}$
