Ratio And Proportion Ques 25
Question-
Three years ago, Manini’s age at that time was thrice of Rinu’s age at that time. The respective ratio between Rinu’s age six years hence and Manini’s age eight years hence, will be $3: 7$. What will be Rinu’s age two years hence? (in years)
(1) 20
(2) 26
(3) 29
(4) 32
(5) 23
Show Answer
Correct Answer: (1)
Solution: (1)
Rinu’s age $=x$ years
Manini’s age $=3 x$ years
Rinu’s age after 6 years from today $=(x+9)$ years
Manini’s age after 8 years from today $=(3 x+11)$ years
According to the question,
$\frac{x+9}{3 x+11}=\frac{3}{7}$
$\Rightarrow 9 x+33=7 x+63$
$\Rightarrow 9 x-7 x=63-33$
$\Rightarrow 2 x=30$
$\Rightarrow x=15$
$\therefore$ Rinu’s required age $=x+3+2=x+5$ $=15+5=20$ years
