In the word CANDIDATE, letters C, N, D, D, T are consonants and $A, I, A, E$ are vowels.

We have to arrange C, N, D, D, T (A I A E) in which ’ $D$ ’ comes twice and A comes twice.

$\therefore$ Number of arrangements $=\frac{6 ! \times 4 !}{2 ! 2 !}$ $=\frac{6 \times 5 \times 4 \times 3 \times 2 \times 4 \times 3 \times 2}{2 \times 2} =4320 $
