Miscellaneous Question 69

In each question, there are two different statements given as Quantity I and Quantity II. You have to consider the statements individually and mark your answer accordingly as per the given condition.

(1) Quantity I > Quantity II

(2) Quantity I $<$ Quantity II

(3) Quantity I $\geq$ Quantity II

(4) Quantity I $\leq$ Quantity II

(5) Quantity I = Quantity II or relationship cannot be determined

  1. The difference between the time taken by two cars to travel a distance of $350$ $ kms$ is 2 hours 20 minutes. The difference between their speeds is $5$ $ km / hr$.

Quantity I : speed of faster car Quantity II : speed of slower car.

Show Answer

Correct Answer: 69. (1)

Solution: 69. (1) Speed of faster car

$=(x+5) $ $\mathrm{kmph}$

Speed of slower car $=x $ $\mathrm{kmph}$.

$\therefore \frac{350}{x}-\frac{350}{x+5}=2 \frac{1}{3}$

$\Rightarrow 350\left(\frac{x+5-x}{x(x+5)}\right)=\frac{7}{3}$

$\Rightarrow \frac{350 \times 5}{x(x+5)}=\frac{7}{3}$

$\Rightarrow x(x+5)=\frac{350 \times 5 \times 3}{7}$

$=50 \times 15$

$\Rightarrow x(x+5)=5 \times 5 \times 2 \times 3 \times 5$

$\Rightarrow x(x+5)=25 \times 30$

$=25(25+5)$

$\therefore x=25 $ $\mathrm{kmph}$.

$\therefore x+5=30$ $ \mathrm{kmph}$.

Clearly, quantity I $>$ quantity II

Note : It is obvious from question. No calculation is needed.
