- In village $A, 20 \%$ of the total population had gone to a formal school at some point of their lifetime. Out of the remaining, $75 \%$ have never gone to any school and the remaining 80 were home schooled.
Quantities :
I. Total population of village A
II. Total population of village B, where $60 \%$ are males and the remaining 160 are females.

Solution: 63. (5) Quantity I: Let, total population of village $\mathrm{A}=x$
People who went to formal school $=\frac{x}{5}$
People who never went school $=\frac{4 x}{5} \times \frac{75}{100}=\frac{3 x}{5}$
Remaining population
$=\frac{4 x}{5}-\frac{3 x}{5}=\frac{x}{5}$
$\therefore \frac{x}{5}=80 \Rightarrow x=400$ Quantity I
Quantity II :
Population of village $B=y$
$\therefore \frac{40 y}{100}=160$
$\Rightarrow y=\frac{160 \times 100}{40}=400$
Clearly, Quantity I = Quantity II
