- Ram and Ali were travelling on their motorbikes from point $P$ to Q. Ram, travelling at a speed of $60 $ $km / hr$ leaves from point $P$ at $6 $ am. Ali travelling at a speed of $90 $ $km / hr$ leaves point $P$ at 10 am on the same day as Ram. At what distance from point $P$, will Ram and Ali meet?
(1) $400 $ $km$
(2) $720 $ $km$
(3) $420$ $ km$

Solution: 33. (2) Distance covered by Ram in 4 hours $=$ Speed $\times$ time
$=60 \times 4=240 $ $\mathrm{km}$
Relative speed $=(90-60) $ $\mathrm{kmph}$ $=30 $ $\mathrm{kmph}$
Time taken in meeting
$=\left(\frac{240}{30}\right)$ hours
$=8$ hours after $10 $ $\mathrm{am}$
$\therefore$ Required distance
$=90 \times 8=720 $ $\mathrm{km}$
