Directions : In the following questions two equations numbered I and II are given. You have to solve both the equations and give answer
(1) if $x>y$
(2) if $x \geq y$
(3) if $x<y$
(4) if $x \leq y$
(5) if $x=y$ or the relationship between $x$ and $y$ cannot be established.

Solution: (4) I. $x^{2}+12 x+35=0$
$\Rightarrow x^{2}+5 x+7 x+35=0$
$\Rightarrow x(x+5)+7(x+5)=0$
$\Rightarrow(x+7)(x+5)=0$
$\Rightarrow x=-7$ or, -5
II. $3 y^{2}+19 y+20=0$
$\Rightarrow 3 y^{2}+15 y+4 y+20=0$
$\Rightarrow 3 y(y+5)+4(y+5)=0$
$\Rightarrow(3 y+4)(y+5)=0$
$\Rightarrow y=\frac{-4}{3}$ or, -5
Clearly, $x \leq y$
