Solution: (4) I. $x^{2}+8 x+15=0$

$\Rightarrow x^{2}+5 x+3 x+15=0$

$\Rightarrow x(x+5)+3(x+5)=0$

$\Rightarrow(x+5)(x+3)=0$

$\Rightarrow x=-5$ or -3

II. $y^{2}+3 y+2=0$

$\Rightarrow y^{2}+y+2 y+2=0$

$\Rightarrow y(y+1)+2(y+1)=0$

$\Rightarrow(y+1)(y+2)=0$

$\Rightarrow y=-1$ or -2

Clearly, $x<y$
