Directions : In each of the following questions, two equations are given. You have to solve these equations and give answer If

(1) $x<y$

(2) $x>y$

Solution: (4) I. $10 x^{2}-7 x+1=0$

$\Rightarrow 10 x^{2}-5 x-2 x+1=0$

$\Rightarrow 5 x(2 x-1)-1(2 x-1)=0$ $\Rightarrow(5 x-1)(2 x-1)=0$

$\Rightarrow x=\frac{1}{5}$ or $\frac{1}{2}$

II. $35 y^{2}-12 y+1=0$

$\Rightarrow 35 y^{2}-7 y-5 y+1=0$

$\Rightarrow 7 y(5 y-1)-1(5 y-1)=0$

$\Rightarrow(7 y-1)(5 y-1)=0$

$\Rightarrow x=\frac{1}{7}$ or $\frac{1}{5}$

Clearly, $x \geq y$
