Show Answer

Correct Answer: (1)

Solution: (1) I. $5 x^{2}-18 x+9=0$

$\Rightarrow 5 x^{2}-15 x-3 x+9=0$

$\Rightarrow 5 x(x-3)-3(x-3)=0$

$\Rightarrow(5 x-3)(x-3)=0$

$\Rightarrow x=\frac{3}{5}$ or 3

II. $3 y^{2}+5 y-2=0$

$\Rightarrow 3 y^{2}+6 y-y-2=0$ $\Rightarrow 3 y(y+2)-1(y+2)=0$

$\Rightarrow(3 y-1)(y+2)=0$

$\Rightarrow y=\frac{1}{3}$ or -2

Clearly, $x>y$
