Answer: (2)
Solution: (2)
Price of meal before discount $=$ Rs. $x$.
Price after discount $=$ Rs. $\frac{9 x}{10}$
Price after taxes $=\frac{9 x}{10} \times \frac{105}{100}=$ Rs. $\frac{189 x}{200}$
Case II,
Price of meal = Rs. $(x-200) \times \frac{105}{100}$
According to the question,
$(x-200) \times \frac{105}{100}-\frac{189 x}{200}=42$
$\Rightarrow \frac{105 x-21000}{100}-\frac{189 x}{200}$ $=42$
$\Rightarrow \frac{210 x-42000-189 x}{200}=42$
$\Rightarrow 21 x-42000=8400$
$\Rightarrow 21 x=42000+8400=50400$
$\Rightarrow x=\frac{50400}{21}=$ Rs. 2400
