  1. What is the area of the given right angled triangle?

I. The length of the hypotenuse is $5\ \text{cm}$. II. The perimeter of a triangle is four times its base.

III. One of the angles of triangle is $60^{\circ}$

(1) Only II

(2) Only III

(3) Either II or III

(4) Both I and II

(5) Question cannot be answer even with the information in all three statements

Show Answer

Correct Answer: 20. (4)

Solution: 20. (4) From statements I and II,

$ \frac{\mathrm{AB}}{\mathrm{AC}}=\cos 60^{\circ} \Rightarrow \mathrm{BC}=\frac{5}{2} $

$a=\frac{5}{2}, b=5$ and $\theta=60^{\circ}$

$\therefore$ We get area by $\mathrm{A}=\frac{1}{2} a b \sin \mathrm{C}$
