Data Interpretation Ques 21
Directions : The following table shows the details about the percentage distribution of students admitted in four different colleges for five different subjects. The table also consists of respective male and female ratio of all the students in each subject. Consider the following table and answer the questions given below :
Students $\rightarrow$ | Physics | Chemistry | Commerce | History | Maths |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Colleges $\downarrow$ | |||||
$A$ | $20 \%$ | $15 \%$ | $25 \%$ | $20 \%$ | $20 \%$ |
$B$ | $15 \%$ | $15 \%$ | $15 \%$ | $30 \%$ | $25 \%$ |
$C$ | $30 \%$ | $20 \%$ | $10 \%$ | $20 \%$ | $20 \%$ |
$D$ | $25 \%$ | $25 \%$ | $10 \%$ | $30 \%$ | $10 \%$ |
Ratio between male and female |
$2: 3$ | $3: 2$ | $1: 2$ | $2: 1$ | $1: 1$ |
Total students distribution among four colleges A, B, C and D is $2: 3: 3: 2$
If the number of students admitted in History subject in college $A$ is 300 , what is the total number of female students in Chemistry in college B?
(1) 145
(2) 160
(3) 140
(4) 150
(5) 135
Show Answer
Correct Answer: (5)
Solution: (5) Number of students in History in college $A=300$
$\because 20 \% \equiv 300$
$\Rightarrow 100 \% \equiv \frac{300}{20} \times 100=1500$
$\therefore$ Number of students in col-
lege $B=\frac{1500}{2} \times 3=2250$
$\therefore$ Number of female students in Chemistry
$=2250 \times \frac{15}{100} \times \frac{2}{5}=135$
