Answer: (1)

Solution: (1)

Quantity of water in jar $B=x$ litres (let).

$\therefore$ Quantity of milk $=(20-x)$ litres

In Jar A,

Quantity of milk $=\frac{5}{9} \times 36$ $=20$ litres

Quantity of water $=\frac{4}{9} \times 36$ $=16$ litres

According to the question,

$\frac{20+20-x}{16+x}=\frac{5}{3}$

$\Rightarrow \frac{40-x}{16+x}=\frac{5}{3}$

$\Rightarrow 80+5 x=120-3 x$

$\Rightarrow 8 x=120-80=40$

$\Rightarrow x=\frac{40}{8}=5$ litres
