Ratio And Proportion Ques 28
Question-
$A$ is 2 years older than $B$ while $B$ is 3 years younger than $C$. The ratio of age of A, 6 years hence and that of B, 2 years ago is 5:3. What was the age of $C, 6$ years ago?
(1) 12 years
(2) 19 years
(3) 15 years
(4) 14 years
(5) 21 years
Show Answer
Correct Answer: (4)
Solution: (4)
$A=B+2$ …(i)
$B=C-3$ …(ii)
Put (B=C-3) in equation (i)
$A = C-3+2$
$A = C-1$
According to the question,
$\frac{A+6}{B-2}=\frac{5}{3}$
$\Rightarrow \frac{C-1+6}{C-3-2}=\frac{5}{3}$
$\Rightarrow \frac{C+5}{C-5}=\frac{5}{3}$
$\Rightarrow 5 C-25=3 C+15$
$\Rightarrow 5 C-3 C=25+15$
$\Rightarrow 2 C=40$
$\Rightarrow C=20$
$\therefore$ C’s age 6 years ago $=20-6=14$ years
