A certain sum is divided among $A, B$ and $C$ in such a way that $A$ gets Rs. 221 more than $\frac{1}{6}$ th of the sum, B gets Rs. 40 less than $\frac{2}{5}$ th of the sum and $C$ gets Rs. 300. What is the total sum invested?

Total amount = Rs. $x$ (let)
$A=\frac{x}{6}+221 ; B=\frac{2 x}{5}-40$
$C=$ Rs. 300
$\therefore \frac{x}{6}+221+\frac{2 x}{5}-40+300=x$
$\Rightarrow x-\frac{x}{6}-\frac{2 x}{5}=481$
$\Rightarrow \frac{30 x-5 x-12 x}{30}=481$
$\Rightarrow 13 x=481 \times 30$
$\Rightarrow x=\frac{481 \times 30}{13}=$ Rs. 1110
