In a bag there are 8 red balls and 7 green balls. Two balls are picked at random. What is the probability that one ball is red and one is green in colour?

Solution: (3)
Total number of balls $=8+7=15$
Total possible outcomes $=$ selection of 2 balls out of 15 balls $={ }^{15} C_{2}=\frac{15 \times 14}{1 \times 2}=105$
Total favourable outcomes $={ }^{8} C_{1} \times{ }^{7} C_{1}=8 \times 7=56$
$\therefore$ Required probability $=\frac{56}{105}=\frac{8}{15}$
