I. $20 x^{2}+12 x+1=0$
II. $30 y^{2}+31 y+5=0$
Directions : In each of these questions, two equations (I) and (II) are given. You have to solve both the equations and give answer.
(1) if $x>y$
(2) if $x \geq y$
(3) if $x<y$
(4) if $x \leq y$
(5) if $x=y$ or relationship between $x$ and $y$ cannot be established.

Solution: (5) I. $20 x^{2}+12 x+1=0$
$\Rightarrow 20 x^{2}+2 x+10 x+1=0$
$\Rightarrow 2 x(10 x+1)+1(10 x+1)=0$
$\Rightarrow(10 x+1)(2 x+1)=0$
$\Rightarrow x=\frac{-1}{10}$ or, $\frac{-1}{2}$
II. $30 y^{2}+31 y+5=0$
$\Rightarrow 30 y^{2}+6 y+25 y+5=0$
$\Rightarrow 6 y(5 y+1)+5(5 y+1)=0$
$\Rightarrow(6 y+5)(5 y+1)=0$
$\Rightarrow y=\frac{-5}{6}$ or, $-\frac{1}{5}$
