Solution: (5) I. $x^{2}-8 x+15=0$

$\Rightarrow x^{2}-5 x-3 x+15=0$

$\Rightarrow x(x-5)-3(x-5)=0$

$\Rightarrow(x-3)(x-5)=0$

$\Rightarrow x=3$ or, 5

II. $y^{2}-7 y+10=0$

$\Rightarrow y^{2}-5 y-2 y+10=0$

$\Rightarrow y(y-5)-2(y-5)=0$

$\Rightarrow(y-2)(y-5)=0$

$\Rightarrow y=2$ or, 5
