I. $2 x^{2}-19 x+45=0$

II. $6 y^{2}-48 y+90=0$

Directions : In the following questions, two equations I and II have been given. You have to solve both equations and give answer if

(1) $x>y$

(2) $x \geq y$

(3) $x<y$

(4) $x \leq y$

(5) $x=y$ or the relation cannot be established.

Solution: (5) I. $2 x^{2}-19 x+45=0$

$\Rightarrow 2 x^{2}-10 x-9 x+45=0$

$\Rightarrow 2 x(x-5)-9(x-5)=0$

$\Rightarrow(x-5)(2 x-9)=0$

$\Rightarrow x=5$ or $\frac{9}{2}$

II. $6 y^{2}-48 y+90=0$

$\Rightarrow 6 y^{2}-30 y-18 y+90=0$

$\Rightarrow 6 y(y-5)-18(y-5)=0$

$\Rightarrow(6 y-18)(y-5)=0$

$\Rightarrow 6(y-3)(y-5)=0$

$\Rightarrow y=5$ or 3
