Directions : In the following questions, two equations numbered I and II are given. You have to solve both the equations and give answer If

(1) $x>y$

(2) $x \geq y$

(3) $x<y$

(4) $x \leq y$

Solution: (2) I. $4 x^{2}-15 x-46=0$

$\Rightarrow 4 x^{2}-23 x+8 x-46=0$

$\Rightarrow x(4 x-23)+2(4 x-23)=0$

$\Rightarrow(x+2)(4 x-23)=0$

$\Rightarrow x=-2$ or $\frac{23}{4}$

II. $6 y^{2}+35 y+46=0$

$\Rightarrow 6 y^{2}+23 y+12 y+46=0$

$\Rightarrow y(6 y+23)+2(6 y+23)=0$

$\Rightarrow(y+2)(6 y+23)=0$

$\Rightarrow y=-2$ or $\frac{-23}{6}$

Clearly, $x \geq y$
