Correct Answer: 16.(2)
Solution: (2) I. $2 x^{2}-9 x+9=0$ $\Rightarrow 2 x^{2}-6 x-3 x+9=0$
$\Rightarrow 2 x(x-3)-3(x-3)=0$
$\Rightarrow(2 x-3)(x-3)=0$
$\Rightarrow x=\frac{3}{2}$ or 3
II. $y^{2}-7 y+12=0$
$\Rightarrow y^{2}-3 y-4 y+12=0$
$\Rightarrow y(y-3)-4(y-3)=0$
$\Rightarrow(y-3)(y-4)=0$
$\Rightarrow y=3$ or 4
Clearly, $x \leq y$
