Correct Answer: 69. (5)

Solution: 69. (5) From statement I,

C.P. of article $=$ Rs. $x$

If S.P. of article be Rs. $y$, then

$ \begin{aligned} & \frac{8 \times y}{100}=\frac{12 x}{100} \\ & \Rightarrow \frac{x}{y}=\frac{8}{12}=\frac{2}{3} \\ & \Rightarrow y=\frac{3 x}{2} . \text { No result. } \end{aligned} $

From statements I and II,

$ \begin{aligned} & \frac{x \times 15}{100}-\frac{9 y}{100}=6 \\ & \Rightarrow 15 x-9 y=600 \\ & \Rightarrow 15 x-\frac{9 \times 3 x}{2}=600 \\ & \Rightarrow \frac{30 x-27 x}{2}=600 \\ & \Rightarrow \frac{3 x}{2}=600 \Rightarrow x=\frac{600 \times 2}{3} \\ & =\text { Rs. } 400 \end{aligned} $
