Give answer (4) if the data in both the statements I and II are not sufficient to answer the question.
Give answer (5) if the data in both the statements I and II together are necessary to answer the question.
- What is the salary of $C$, in a group of A, B, C, D and E whose average salary is ₹ 48,250 ?
I. C’s salary is 1.5 times B’s salary.
II. Average salary of A and B is ₹ 23,500 .

Solution: 6. (4) We do not have the average salary of $\mathrm{D}$ and $\mathrm{E}$.
From both statements,
$\mathrm{A}+\mathrm{B}+\mathrm{C}+\mathrm{D}+\mathrm{E}=5 \times 48250$
$\mathrm{C}=1.5 \mathrm{~B}$
$A+B=2 \times 23500$
Clearly, C’s salary cannot be determined.
