Correct Answer: 53. (4)

Solution: 53. (4) From statement I,

Speed of train $M=\frac{x}{t}$

$=\frac{x+420}{25}$

(where $x=$ length of train M)

$\Rightarrow 25 x=12 x+5040$

$\Rightarrow 25 x-12 x=5040$

$\Rightarrow 13 x=\frac{5040}{13} \approx 388$ metres

From statement II,

Relative speed $=5x + 3x$

$=8\ x$ units

Length of trains $=575$ metre

Required time $=\frac{575}{8 x}$
