- What is the cost of painting four walls of the rectangular hall at the rate of Rs. 135 per sq. metre, the hall has a door measuring 3.5 metre $\times 1.5$ metre and no windows?
I. Perimeter of the floor of the hall is equal to the perimeter of a square field having side 12 metre. Length and breadth of the hall are in the ratio of $5: 1$ respectively.
II. Perimeter of the smaller wall is 15 metres

Solution: 52. (3) From statement III,
C.P. of table $=$ Rs. $x$
$510-x=2(x-345)$
$\Rightarrow 510-x=2 x-690$
$\Rightarrow 3 x=510+690=1200$ $\Rightarrow x=\frac{1200}{3}=$ Rs. 400
From statement II,
C.P. of table $=$ Rs. $x$
Marked price $=$ Rs. $\frac{140 x}{100}$
$=$ Rs. $\frac{7 x}{5}$
$\therefore x-\frac{7 x \times 70}{5 \times 100}=8$
$\Rightarrow x-\frac{49 x}{50}=8$
$\Rightarrow \frac{50 x-49 x}{50}=8$
$\Rightarrow x=8 \times 50=$ Rs. 400
