Give answer (1) if the data in Statement I alone are sufficient to answer the question, while the data in statement II alone are not sufficient to answer the question.
Give answer (2) if the data in Statement II alone are sufficient to answer the question, while the data in statement I alone are not sufficient to answer the question.
Give answer (3) if the data in either Statement I alone or in statement II alone are sufficient to answer the question.
Give answer (4) if the data in both the Statements I and II are not sufficient to answer the question.
Give answer (5) if the data in both the Statements I and II together are necessary to answer the question.
- What is the smaller angle of a parallelogram?
I. Ratio between the angles of a triangle is $3: 5: 4$ and the larger angle of the parallelogram is $34^{\circ}$ more than the largest angle of the triangle.
II. Larger angle of the parallelogram is $38^{\circ}$ more than its smaller angle.
Show Answer
Correct Answer: 15. (3)
Solution: 15. (3) From statement I,
$3 x+5 x+4 x=180$
$\Rightarrow 12 x=180 \Rightarrow x=15$
Larger angle of parallelogram
$=5 x+34=75+34=109^{\circ}$
$\therefore$ Second angle $=180-109$
$=71^{\circ}$
From statement II,
$x+x+38=180^{\circ}$
$\Rightarrow 2 x=180^{\circ}-38^{\circ}=142^{\circ}$
$\Rightarrow x=71^{\circ}$
