Solution: (2) Income of company B in $2009=$ Rs. I $I_{1}$, lakhs
$\therefore \frac{I_{1}-E_{1}}{E_{1}} \times 100=35$
$\Rightarrow \frac{I_{1}-12}{12}=\frac{35}{100}=\frac{7}{20}$
$\Rightarrow \frac{I_{1}-12}{3}=\frac{7}{5}$
$\Rightarrow 5 I_{1}-60=21$
$\Rightarrow 5 I_{1}=60+21=81$
$\Rightarrow I_{1}=\frac{81}{5}=$ Rs. 16.2 lakhs
Similarly,
$\frac{I_{2}-14.5}{14.5}=\frac{50}{100}=\frac{1}{2}$ $\Rightarrow 2 I_{2}-29=14.5$
$\Rightarrow 2 I_{2}=29+14.5=43.5$
$\Rightarrow I_{2}=\frac{43.5}{2}=$ Rs. 21.75 la-
