The respective ratio between the number of bags available in store $R$ in December and that available in the same store in November was $7: 6$. How many more bags were available in store $R$ in December as compared to November?

Solution: (3) Let the number of bags available in store $R$ in December be $x$. According to the question,
$$ \begin{aligned} & \frac{x}{\frac{800 \times 30}{100}}=\frac{7}{6} \\ & \Rightarrow \frac{x}{240}=\frac{7}{6} \end{aligned} $$
$\Rightarrow x=\frac{7}{6} \times 240=280$
Required answer $=280-240$
$=40$
