Solution: (1) Total population of state $R$ $=x$ millions
Population below poverty line
$=\frac{24 x}{100}$ million
Females $=\frac{2}{3} \times \frac{24 x}{100}$ millions
$=\frac{4 x}{25}$ million
Population above poverty line
$=\frac{76 x}{100}=\frac{19 x}{25}$ millions
Females $=\frac{3}{5} \times \frac{19 x}{25}$
$=\frac{57 x}{125}$ millions
Difference $=\frac{57 x}{125}-\frac{4 x}{25}$
$=\frac{57 x-20 x}{125}=\frac{37 x}{125}$ millions
$\therefore$ Required percentage
$=\frac{\frac{37 x}{125}}{\frac{4 x}{25}} \times 100$
$=\frac{37 x}{125} \times \frac{25}{4 x} \times 100=185 \%$
