Solution: (4) Total population of state $R=$ $x$ millions (let).
$\therefore$ Population above poverty line
$=\frac{76 x}{100}=\frac{19 x}{25}$ millions
Male population above poverty line
$=\frac{2}{5} \times \frac{19 x}{25}=\frac{38 x}{125}$ millions $\therefore \frac{38 x}{125}=1.9$ millions
$\Rightarrow x=\frac{1.9 \times 125}{38}=6.25$ millions
