Solution: (3) In the year 2007 ,
Number of candidates who appeared $=5 x$
Number of candidates who qualified $=4 x$
Female candidates who qualified
$=\frac{3}{8} \times 4 x=\frac{3 x}{2}$
$\therefore$ Required per cent
$=\frac{3 x}{2 \times 5 x} \times 100=30 \%$
