In one litre of mixture of alcohol and water, $30 \%$ is water. The amount of alcohol that must be added to the mixture, so that the part of water in the mixture becomes $15 \%$, is :

(2) 700 ml

In $1000 ml$ of mixture,

Alcohol $=700 ml$

Water $=300 ml$

Let $x$ ml of alcohol be added.

According to the question,

$\frac{300}{1000+x} \times 100=15$

$\Rightarrow 2000=x+1000$

$\Rightarrow x=2000-1000=1000 ml$.
